How to participate to the working group

The first level of participation is to join the mailing list. This allows to observe working group's activities and to participate in reviewing, commenting and technical contributions.

The second level is to register as a voting member of the working group. This allows to participate in 1076.1 working group votes and in DASC votes.

The third level is to participate to an IEEE ballot.

Voting membership

First, it is required that working group voting members must be also DASC members. Please use the DASC application form if you are not yet a DASC member or if you need to renew your DASC membership.

Then send a registration request to the working group secretary that must include name, address, business affiliation, phone & fax numbers, email address, and IEEE membership number.

A voting member must participate in any Calls for Vote (CFV) within the working group. This is a minimal measurement of active participation. A vote to abstain qualifies as a recorded vote (in case a member does not have adequate time to properly review the material put to a vote).

If a voting member misses 2 consecutive CFVs, then that member will be removed from the WG voting membership. This has no impact on subscription to the mailing list. It is possible to continue to participate, except for CFVs, without being a voting member of the working group.

A working group member can request to be reinstated as a voting member after missing two consecutive CFVs. The process for reinstatement is to contact the working group secretary and request reinstatement.
See the current status of the working group voting membership.

As part of the CFV process, each vote will be checked against the working group's voting membership roll. Only those votes from a voting member will be officially tallied.

IEEE ballot

Reference: "Getting Involved" from IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA).

An IEEE ballot is the process by which a draft standard is formally approved or reaffirmed as an IEEE standard. More information on the IEEE standardization process may be found in the IEEE Standards Companion guide.

The P1076.1 Project Authorization Request (PAR) defines the type of ballot for this project as "Individual Sponsor Ballot". This means that only individuals may cast their votes and comments.

Being a working group member does not automatically get you a member of the ballot group. Three more conditions must be met:

  1. You must be a member of the IEEE-SA (see IEEE-SA Individual Membership).
  2. You must have an IEEE Web Account.
  3. You must sign up for an invitation pool via the myBallot website.
There, you must join the proper Activity Area to receive the invitation to be a member of the ballot group. To do that, click on the "Select Activity Profile" and then click on "+" to view groups associated with the IEEE Computer Society. The list is organized hierarchically as follows:

    Society: IEEE Computer Society [C]
    Sponsor: Design Automation [C/DA]
Working Group: VHDL Analog and Mixed-Signal Extensions Working Group
    [C/DA/VHDL-AMS]
Project: Standard VHDL Analog and Mixed-Signal Extensions
    [C/DA/VHDL-AMS/1076.1]

Check the selection box beside each committee.

The selection at the Sponsor or WG level indicates that you are interested in the managerial aspects or general work in the selected item. This is required if you wish to be notified of invitations to ballot within the Sponsor or the WG. The selection at the Project level indicates that you are interested in the technical work of that specific project.

To confirm your enrollment, you must scroll to the bottom of the page, click on the "Continue" button. Then you are invited to enter your contact information. Finally, a click on the "Continue" button brings you back to your myBallot home page.
