Here are a number of documents that have been developped during
the first VHDL-AMS standardization phase. They are not necessarily
up-to-date but they contain useful information that helps to
understand why the VHDL-AMS language is what it is.

Language Requirements and Objectives
- Design Objective Document (text,
53k)
VHDL 1076.1 requirements and design objectives that drove the
language design.
- Design Objective Rationale (text,
64k)
Origin of the design objectives and how they play together.
- Requirement Trace Document (pdf,
66k)
A review of the design objectives with respect to the current
language definitions.
Language Design
- Language Overview (pdf,
42k)
This document describes the language architecture and all aspects
of the extended language. It is more rigorous than the tutorial,
but less formal than the LRM.
- Language Rationale (html)
The rationale for all extensions to the VHDL 1076 language is
spread over several white papers that have been the support for
the language design. Please note that the definitions in the white
papers should not be taken into account anymore as they have been
integrated into the 1076.1 LRM, sometimes with changes or
additions.
