A list of the members in attendance is attached to this document as well as a white paper written by Kevin Nolan and a complete list of the requirements that were submitted to the Requirements Analysis group. The goals of this meeting were to review the requirements analysis work thus far, to continue the analysis discussions and to develop new work items for the next meeting. General Discussions: The agenda for this meeting was as follows: * Review work accomplished at the Santander Spain meeting. * Discuss white paper written by Kevin Nolan. * Continue review of the draft Design Objectives document. * Review and update the work schedule. * Develop new work items for the next meeting. Santander Meeting Summary: Kevin Nolan gave a brief summary of the Santander Spain meeting. The following are the highlights: * Dominique Rodriguez presented the first draft of the Design Objectives (DO) document. * Kevin Nolan presented a top-down design methodology using a control system paradigm. This kind of design methodology is required by various users. * Began detailed analysis of the draft DO document. + General agreements reached: - Generalize operational semantics to more than just electrical. Allow representation of other physical systems such as thermal and mechanical. - Language will NOT standardize implementation algorithms. * Kevin Nolan agreed to write a white paper on various issues. * Robert Cottrell agreed to update the DO document and return the master copy to Hazem El-Tahawy to manage. * Further discussion will be by email, using the mailing list set up by Robert Cottrell. The address of the mailing list is: dr1076_1@lsi-logic.co.uk or dr1076_1@lonfs01.lsil.com Anyone wanting their name added to or deleted from the list should contact Robert Cottrell at: rac@lsi_logic.co.uk or rac@dcsl.lsil.com Review of White Paper: Kevin Nolan presented his white paper to the group and lead a discussion of it. A copy of this paper is attached to these minutes. Continued Review of DO: The remainder of the meeting was devoted to continuing discussion and analysis of the DO document at the point that the group had stopped at in Santander. A set of new work items was developed as a result of these discussions: 1. Kevin Nolan agreed to write two white papers: * Definition of the Continuous Time Operational Semantic Model. * Interaction between the Discrete and Continuous Time Domains. 2. Dave Barton agreed to write a glossary of terms. Schedule: The schedule for YE 1992 was then updated as follows: 1992 Tasks J A S O N D * 1 Req. Analysis --------------A 2 Language Design ----------> 3.Glossary Due B 4.EURO-DAC C Milestones A Design Objectives document complete. B Glossary due from Dave Barton to Hazem El-Tahawy. C.Next VASASG meeting at the EURO-DAC conference. New Work Items: The following are the new work items to be completed by the next meeting which will be held in conjunction with the EURO-DAC conference on Tuesday, September 8th. from 1800 to 2000: 1. Distribute the final list of requirements. (Mark Brown, this list will be delivered with these minutes) 2. Write white papers regarding: * Definition of the Continuous Time Operational Semantic Model. (Kevin Nolan) * Interaction between the Discrete and Continuous Time Domains. (Kevin Nolan) 3. Develop a glossary of terms. (Dave Barton) 4. Distribute the Design Objectives document from Hazem. (Mark Brown and Robert Cottrell) 5. Update the project plan with the new schedule and task chairs.
